Meet Negus, Negus was the resident lion at Blackpool zoo for nearly twenty years, here he is pictured in 2006. Negus was one of the first big male lions that actually made me realise their true size by seeing him right up at the fence. He was also the lion that first roared in front of me, and at the age of twelve that really was awe inspiring! Negus died a couple of years after these photos were taken, but as you can see he was a truly superb looking male lion.
