Another set of photos following Zuri and Safi, here are quite a few close ups of the two, due to them being quite close to the fence at the time is the only way I could focus the mesh out was to take rather close up photos.
Just Lions is the personal blog of a nineteen year old trainee zookeeper with a love and passion for lions. The blog focuses on two African lions "Zuri" and "Safina" resident at Linton Zoo and will share news from their family spread over different Zoos and Safari Parks around the country.

Turkana & Mana - February 2008
The pictures above show Turkana and Mana, taken in 2008 so they would both be 11 years old, so getting well into middle aged by then. Below is a video of Turkana at feeding time, which I thought would be interesting to anyone viewing the blog!
The picture above shows a young lioness from Bisa, she arrived from South Africa with a white lioness (part of their 'white lion breeding programme' not something i'm entirely fond of but hey ho!) Bisa was then returned to Africa as she went to Uganda with a young lioness Zara in 2009, who was the first born at Linton to Zuri and Safi. I thought this would just be a nice photo to share.

Time for a bit of nostalgia...
I first visited Woburn Safari Park in 2002, they held a rather elderly pride of lions, headed by two Woburn born males Romeo and Legs Diamond, both of which died in November 2002 (Romeo) and January 2003 (Legs) which left the pride with no pride leaders, it was when Sly and Shane came in later that year. Ofcourse from that pride came more and more cubs, the eldest of which Riziki and Karla reside at Linton.
So this is where the entire line of lions at Linton is descended from (aswell as a few other groups in the country for example Africa Alive! and Colchester Zoo) I find looking at these pictures interesting, keeping an eye open for characteristics that have stuck into their descendants.
So here are a few pictures that I have from then, Ten years on.

As soon as I get my printer working I will scan on a few others that I have, but for now here are the ones that I have.

Zuri, Safi & Rizi - February 2012
My first up to date post!!
This thread has photos taken all from this afternoon (18th February 2012)
I hope you enjoy them, it was very windy and pretty wet but Zuri and Saf did come out for a bit, even if I did have to call them quite a few times.

I hope you enjoy them, it was very windy and pretty wet but Zuri and Saf did come out for a bit, even if I did have to call them quite a few times.
As you can see towards the end of the day, it did get very wet! Well for Zuri at least, Safi stayed inside!
And here is a picture of Rizi, when he decided to brave the outdoors.
